COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to GRM 700—Multicultural Aspects of Grief Counseling
This course is part of the Accelerated Master’s program in Grief Counseling at Breyer State University. It is a 6-hour semester course that should be completed within 6 weeks. The aim of this course is to familiarize students with counseling clients from various cultures; by examining their own cultural background; then identifying the existing differences of people from various cultures; finally by the development of effective interventions for their clients. Finally, supplemental readings and videos speaking more specifically about cultural variations in understanding and processing grief and bereavement and to provide them with a working knowledge of how to be aware of/sensitive to cultural diversity while engaging in grief therapy.
